Before their nationalization by the Empire, Incom had been working on a new variant of the Z-95 Headhunter. This new fighter would be the prototype for the T-65 X-wing series. By the time Incom was nationalized, they had already created the T-65X Prototype, refined it into the T-65A, and refined that into the T-65B. Incom designers, infuriated by the Empire's iron rule policies inflicted upon them, defected to the Rebel Alliance bringing with them dozens of Xs,As, and Bs. The X-wings were assigned to Blue Sqaudron, Red Squadron, and Gold Squadron. Some X-wings couldn't be used since the Rebellion lacked the pilots for them. In less than a year, X-wings were turning up everywhere. TIE Fighters were starting to no longer be considered the most advanced starfighter of the galaxy. Because of this, Darth Vader ordered a new TIE Fighter to be designed. This would later become the TIE Interceptor. Since their introduction, the T-65C A2 X-wing has proven to be a very vertacile fighter easily able to act as space superiority fighter or assaut fighter. Its fame made Rogue Squadron possible whos pilots were able to attain the Alliance's greatest victories. Incom continued to manufacture newer models of X-wings until a while after the Battle of Endor. The latest model ever made became known as the T-65I Super X-wing. Although now considered outdated by New Republic standards, they still serve after two decades of fighting. They are now being moved into areas of lesser importance since the advent of the E-wing and other newer generation fighters.
